These fellowships are open to talented and motivated scientists both from Austria and abroad. The successful candidates will conduct research at one of the five leading research institutions across Austria: <strong>Medical University of Vienna (MUV), Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI), University of Vienna (UNIVIE), Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), IMBA.<\/strong><\/p><h1><strong>Mission statement:<\/strong><\/h1><p>The CoE brings together leading Austrian neuroscientists to explore the diversity and functional specializations of GABAergic cells, a key neuronal lineage critical to nervous system function and essential across all brain networks. Impairments in their function are linked to disorders like schizophrenia, autism, and epilepsy. With its focus on GABAergic cells, <strong>the CoE aims to integrate a range of cutting-edge concepts, methodologies, and tools from basic and clinical neurobiology to understand fundamental brain functions and the processes by which they become susceptible to diseases<\/strong>.<\/p><h2><strong>What we offer:<\/strong><\/h2><ul><li>Fully funded <strong>postdoc positions for 3 years.<\/strong><\/li><li>Be part of a stimulating, <strong>interdisciplinary scientific community<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Opportunity to <strong>collaborate <\/strong>with another research group within the CoE.<\/li><li>Opportunity to conduct research in dynamic, international teams led by world-class scientists.<\/li><li>Work in state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities.<\/li><li>Opportunities for professional development and career advancement and trainings in transferable skills.<\/li><li>Guidance in relocation in Austria.<\/li><\/ul><h2><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/h2><ul><li><strong>PhD<sup>*<\/sup> <\/strong>in one of the following areas: neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, physiology, biochemistry, psychology, bioinformatics, computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, physics, and\/or mathematics.<\/li><li><strong>Research experience <\/strong>in a relevant scientific area.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>* <\/strong>Applicants who do not hold a PhD title at the time of the application can only apply if they <strong>will complete their PhD studies by employment start<\/strong>, i.e. between October 2025 \u2013 January 2026.<\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Application Deadline: 31.07.2025<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><h2><strong>How to apply:<\/strong><\/h2><ol><li>Please choose <strong>up to three researchers (supervisors)<\/strong> with whom you would like to work within the CoE.
